How to Get Crayon Out of Carpet

 METHOD 1: THE SCRAPING METHOD

  1. Immediately you spot the stain, scrape off any remaining residue of the crayon from the surface.
  2. By using a little amount of carpet cleaner, add a bit of it to the stained area and blot it with an absorbent pad or a clean towel.
  3. Repeat this until all the stain disappears from the surface.
  4. Leave the crayon stain dry

METHOD 2:

  • Once you have discovered that your carpet contains crayon stains, try using a dull knife to see if you can get rid of the colored stuff.
  • Next, have an ice cube wrapped up in a plastic bag and then have it applied to the bag directly on top of stained area. The purpose of this step is to freeze any remaining waxy residue.
  • Have the stained area covered with a clean piece of white cloth.
  • Through the tip of a warm but not too hot iron, press the iron into the cloth. Through repeating this step, the colored wax will start to move from the carpet and into the cloth.
  • If there is still color on your carpet, repeat the whole process again while sponging the stained area with a dry-cleaning solvent.

METHOD 3: REMOVING MELTED CRAYON

Removing dry crayon stains from your carpet is one thing, but just how do you go about cleaning melted crayon off your rugs?  If you have

tried the two techniques above and none seem to be effective for melted crayon stains, try the method below.

  1. Take your blue dawn soap and have it mixed with warm water.
  2. Put a white piece of cloth directly on top of the area containing crayon stains
  3. Next, pour the soapy water on to the piece of cloth and then allow it to soak in the crayon stain.
  4. Take a warm iron (make sure it’s on low setting) and then have it placed on top of the stain. Allow the iron to remain on for a couple of minutes.
  5. Repeat the step as needed or until such a time that the stain disappears.
  6. Using a fresh towel, dry the carpet and blot, don’t scrub it, until such a time that all the liquid disappears.
